I have a keloid/ bump from piercing inside my nose - can I still get rhinoplasty?

I had a nose piercing since August, and I just took it out because I noticed I developed a bump on the inside of my nose (it was fine before but I have been messing around/ trying to change it recently which I think caused it). Hopefully it will go away now the piercing is out but if it does not can I still get rhinoplasty in May? Also does this mean I am more likely to develop scar tissue post-rhino?

Yes. We can usually remove the keloid at the same time as the rhinoplasty. After surgery we would see you often to make sure no new keloids are forming and treat those with Kenalog injections and topical silicone scar gels if needed.

Thank you for your question! Having the keloid from the piercing should not prohibit your from getting a rhinoplasty. If you do have a history of keloid scarring, definitely mention it to your surgeon so they can speak with you about steroid injections, should you need them after surgery. We wish you the best!

It is likely the keloid can be removed at the same time as rhinoplasty. s long as you don’t try to pierce it again it probably will not occur again.
