I have pins and needles years after liposuction to the flanks and inner and outer thighs. Will this ever go away? It seems to be exacerbated when sleeping or after exercising. I'm not sure if these are now trapped nerves. I experience this in both legs.

Answer: Why do I have pins and needles years after liposuction? Usually the sensation of pins and needles subside after a year postop. However, there are cases like yours where the sensation lasts for up to 2 years. Chances are your nerves were severely damaged during surgery or you have very sensitive nerves. An in-person examination would be the best option for you as of now. Schedule an appointment with your original surgeon and have a re-evaluation of your condition.

Answer: Consult your plastic surgeon Sorry to hear about your nerve problem, hablapabla. You didn’t mention how many years have passed since your liposuction, but typically, the pins and needles sensation should have gone away a year after your liposuction. If it’s been more than a year and you’re still experiencing it, the best thing to do is to go back to your experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon or visit your general physician for a physical evaluation and proper management of your condition. Best of luck!
