Hi Denise. Doesn't look like anything to be worried about. It's not uncommon to have a little incision separation in this area after arm lifting. I think your wound care is adequate - clean and dry is best in my opinion in this location. The armpits tend to be moist enough - ointment only adds to the problem in my experience. Be sure to describe symptoms of fever, chills, or increasing pain to your doctor...should they occur. Best of luck.
Hi Denise, Thank you for your questions regarding an opening in the armpit 10 days after your arm lift or brachioplasty. I would suggest you see your plastic surgeon right away. Your plastic surgeon may want to start or change antibiotics. Also, your plastic surgeon may want to start some antibiotic cream (like bacitracin) and antiseptic solution (like betadine). Until you see your plastic surgeon, I would keep the armpit area dry. Do not get it wet. I hope this answers your question about what to do with your armpit wounds 10 days after your arm lift. Again, see your plastic surgeon right away. If you have any other questions regarding an arm lift or brachioplasty, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen
Thank you for your question and photo. It is hard to tell if there is an opening on the arms incision from the photos. I would advise you to call your surgeon to discuss their post operative protocol for incision separation. Every Board Certified Plastic Surgeon has different protocols. Best Wishes.
The wound care that you are doing is a step in the right direction. I would add a small amount of ointment to the open area after cleaning the wound once or twice per day, but check with your plastic surgeon. It is not unusual for a small opening to occur in the area of the armpit and should heal well with your local wound care. Good luck.
Hello, I think it's very important to be in contact with your plastic surgeon about your healing. I think the incision looks a little irritated and a bit of antibiotic ointment may help, but it's good to keep your doctor in the loop. Thanks,
Thank you for your question. I do not really see a opening of incision in the picture. If any small opening local wound care as per your PS. Usually they heal by themselves. Please follow instructions from your PS.
You are only 10 days out from the procedure and much more healing needs to take place over the next 2 months. Keep the areas clean with normal hygiene and do moisturize the incision including any opening.Keep in close contact with your surgeon.
This is a common problem with arm lift healing. Continue to followup with your surgeon to get the best advice as the wounds continue to heal. There will be months of healing before the scars will mature. I recommend protein shakes for optimal incision healing. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Cert...
Hi Islandsweeie72, Thank you for your questions about pins, needles, and numbness after your arm lift or brachioplasty. Pins and needles after an arm lift are not uncommon. Pins and needles are a sign of nerve compression. After an arm lift, nerves get compressed due to swelling or edema....
Thank you for your question. Yes, all three of these procedures can safely be done in one session. You should schedule an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience with all three of these procedures to discuss your goals and concerns. The surgeon should assess your...
