32 - am I too young for a facelift? (Photos)

Question

No extreme weight loss. Always had a chubbier face. Main concern areas are pre jowls, the large fat pads beside my upper lip, and jawline/doubled chin area/ heaviness in eyelids. I want something more permanent than filler.

Your facial structure is still youthful, but I can see early signs of aging in the areas you mentioned—such as pre-jowl fullness, jawline softening, heaviness in the upper eyelids, and volume irregularities beside the upper lip. You can reposition your buccal fat pads to reduce the appearance of a heavy jowl. You do not want to remove them because they play a pivotal role in facial structures. If you're not ready for surgery, I do preach that you should avoid the use of ANY energy devices in this area of the face. Devices such as Morpheus8, Profound, Ultherapy, and more damage the skin, destroy fat and tissues of the face and leave disastrous deformities that cannot be reversed.

Patients have increasingly become interested in facelifts at a younger age. In your case, aging changes appear relatively early or mild and may not warrant a full facelift. You could consider microliposuction of the prejowls, which can be done under local anesthesia, and potentially an upper lid blepharoplasty.

Great question. It can be had to definitively say without an in person exam but in my practice, yes you would likely be too young for a formal facelift with those pictures. I don't see much of prejowl volume in those photos but in young patients, microliposuction with renuvion skin tightening can help. Similarly, this combination is nice for submental and jawline definition to address subtle fullness. You have a subtle amount of upper lid redundant skin and depending on goals, upper blepharoplasty is great for this area if that heaviness bothers you! Despite being young for full formal facelift, there are less invasive options that can help these areas!

Nobody at your age should get a facelift of any kind, you might end with necrotic or wide scars, facial deformities, pixie ears, pulled tragus, etc the full set of deformities arising when non indicated or poorly executed facelifts are applied.

You could start with filler or sculptra to restore any volume or skin elasticity loss that could be causing you to jowl. Jowling happens when our skin losses elasticity, our fat pads in our face deflate and our bones reabsorb. I would recommend starting with that before you do anything surgical.

Age alone is not a limitation for a facelift. The key factors are skin elasticity, soft tissue laxity, and facial volume distribution.In patients around their early thirties, skin quality is usually still good, but mild laxity or loss of contour may appear along the jawline and lower face.
While a full facelift would be premature, a mini facelift or SMAS tightening (lower face tightening) can effectively improve the jawline definition.These procedures are typically performed under local anesthesia with short incisions and have a relatively quick recovery time.They are especially helpful for softening the pre-jowl area and reducing the appearance of marionette lines (lines extending from the mouth corners).
