Hard lumps 1 month after subcision (Photo)

Question

i went for subcision for atropic acne scars last month 29/04/2016 as per doctor suggestion from this forum. after swelling down completely i have noticed lots of hard lumps nearly 15 to 16 on right cheek and 1-2 big on left cheek. he has given me tube of brushing but it is not working . all lumps are as before 3 week as it is today no improvement in lumps. can you suggest what is this case .my doctor not able to answer my query. waiting for reply . scar tissue or subcutaneous fibrous nodules

It is not uncommon to develop subcutaneous nodules after subcision treatment.  These generally appear a couple weeks after treatment and typically resolve of their own accord.  At times treatment with steroids either topically or injected into the nodules can be required.  I recommend discussing this with your surgeon at greater length.

Acne scarring of this type needs more than subcision.  It needs fillers, surgical punch excisions, lasers, along with subcision.  I suggest posting before photos and asking your physician what type of subcision procedure was performed.  Please see an acne scarring expert.  Best, Dr. Emer.

It is relatively common to feel firm lumps under the skin after a subcision procedure.  I treat these with intralesional injections of Kenalog which is a type of steroid.  I see the patient back every couple of weeks and reinject if necessary.  The vast majority of the time the lumps will settle down with proper treatment, patient massage, and giving it time.  I suggest seeing another doctor if your current doctor can't help you.Regards,Dr. Ort
