Restylane does not dissolve after 3 years. Is this normal?

The visual results of Restylane lasts about a year, but when the area is touched sometimes the filler can be felt for much longer. 3 years out seems like something other than filler. If it is not visible, does not hurt and is not red, then you probably do not have to worry about it. Follow up with the doctor who injected you. 

there are no cases of restylane that I have not been able to reverse.  you may need a few treatments or higher doses.  If it is not gone after a few treatments of higher doses, then it is not the restylane that is there and a biopsy should be performed.  Best, Dr. Emer.

It is very unusual for a product like restylane to not dissolve after 3 years therefore I would make sure that the product used was restylane.

Hello pmds,Restylane will last at most 12 to 18 months.  This means one of two things if you still feel something.  The first is that something other than Restylane was injected.  There are some permanent fillers that may have been injected.  This is rarely done because of the problem with having something there forever (and something I don't recommend).  The other is that you developed a reaction leading to some scar tissue developing in that area.  This can be difficult to treat but there are some options.  In either way you should be seen by a medical professional to provide a complete analysis.  I hope this helps and good luck. 

There is no way that Restylane will last 3 years. Either you were injected with something other than Restylane or some u=other phenomenon occurred. Check with your doctor and be sure you got what you think you did
