Ptosis surgery - how can you tell if surgery was unsuccessful?

Hi, how do you know when to admit ptosis surgery has not been successful? There seems to be no change to my eye however, I don't know if this is because the muscle still needs time to strengthen or if there is residual swelling. My eye doesn't look any worse but it also seems like nothing whatsoever has changed. Would appreciate any insights.
