Hi Drs, I’m one month post op after breast lift and implants and very concerned with my healing so far. I was finally instructed to remove the steri strips today and that’s when I noticed how lopsided the incision line is and how it doesn’t appear to connect evenly...there is a small ledge of skin poking above the line...just seems like the skin isn’t coming together and is mismatched. Is this normal and will this even out? Thank you for taking a look.
Answer: Breast lift Dear YoungWitch786,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast lift surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 1 days post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast lift surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Uneven incision Dear YoungWitch786, sometimes breasts can look a little gnarly fresh after surgery. There's a lot of gathering on the bottom parts of your breasts and a little less around your areolas. This is going to change a lot over the next few months and your fresh scars will smooth a lot. Sometimes I'm amazed at how much they do change day to day and week to week. At this point I would focus my attention in the wound care of the breasts bottom incision so it all heals well with minimal scarring. This requires frequent debridement of the tissues that are not viable ensuring adequate healing. Once healing is complete the breasts will look a lot better. I think the shape of your freshly operated breasts looks very promising.

Answer: Why worry about something you cannot change? Unfortunately, once a procedure is done, you should try not to worry about things as nothing can be done to change it now. Most surgeons would tell you to allow healing and then consider revisions if deemed necessary. Yes, you have an uneven incision but it will improve with time and it may be adequate to where no revision is needed. Let your surgeon know of your concerns and let your surgeon do the worrying since your surgeon should want the absolute best outcome for you since you are walking advertising of what his/her work is like, and we all want our patients to believe they got the best job possible. Focus on healing and just know that there may be a chance for a revision that could usually be done in the office under local. I see other issues that would be more concerning to me but in the end, office revisions can usually resolve most, if not all concerns.

Answer: Breast lift Hi darling, thank you for your question. Don't need to worry because it is a natural reaction of your body from the procedure. It doesn't seem as if there is any infection, still it is hard to give you a proper assessment without first seeing you in person but It will improve overtime. Allow the tissue to completely heal and keep the area clean. These issues tend to happen but need to be treated well, follow up with your PS to make sure everything is alright and prevent any complication. Kind regards, Dr. Jimenez Toribio Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
