Is it common to lose your appetite after a breast reduction?

My recommendation is to give it time.  Surgery and anesthesia can make you tired and affect your appetite and GI tract for a few days.  It should return to normal in time.  All the best

Anesthesia can cause a lot of people to lose their appetite. Try eating some broth, light soup or maybe a smoothie. Something that goes down easily. Your appetite should return. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Hello,It is very normal to have no appetite or a diminished appetite after undergoing general anesthesia.  It can take up to a week for all the effects of the anesthesia to leave your body and during that time many people notice a change in their appetite.  Even if you aren't hungry during this time make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.  You're appetite will return soon.  If about a week you are still having issues be sure to let your plastic surgeon know.  Best of Luck with your healing!Dr. Rednam

This is a not uncommon consequence of the anaesthesia and of the general stress related to a surgical procedure. As long as you still drink and keep yourself well hydrated there is nothing to worry about.

Surgery can affect you appetite.  So can the pain meds because they can slow down your gastrointestinal tract.

The anesthesia can have a short term effect on your appetite. This is quite common and, if you do take pain medication, it will produce the same lack of desire to eat. This is temporary. Try to keep well hydrated.
