I had my breast reduction yesterday at 1:00PM and wasn't allowed to eat anything that day before my surgery. I came home and went right to sleep and now I seem to have no appetite. Is that normal? I haven't taken any of my prescribed meds yet because my pain is about a 2/10 so it can't be a side effect of that. Any advice on eating? Thanks!

Answer: Loss of appetite after surgery Hello,It is very normal to have no appetite or a diminished appetite after undergoing general anesthesia. It can take up to a week for all the effects of the anesthesia to leave your body and during that time many people notice a change in their appetite. Even if you aren't hungry during this time make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. You're appetite will return soon. If about a week you are still having issues be sure to let your plastic surgeon know. Best of Luck with your healing!Dr. Rednam
