I’m a physical therapist and I’m considering a sub pec breast augmentation. I perform a lot of manual therapy that involves increased weight through my arms, shoulders and chest. I plan to take 4 weeks off from work and return to 2-3 days per week. I also work out 4-5 times a week (cardio and light strength training). Based on current research, I’m thinking a smooth implant vs. texture but I’m worried it might move vs. a teardrop option. Any advice would be helpful.

Answer: Thank you for your excellent question... The implant is actually less important that the implant pocket or location. Your query suggested that your implant would be sub pectoral. If you have adequate breast tissue thickness an alternative that might be more suitable for you would be a subfascial placement. This would minimize the risk of animation deformity with lots of pectoral action. Please consult with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon whose aesthetics align with your own based on his or her Before and After gallery. Do your research. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Implants I prefer the smooth round implants for excellent results and fewest long term risks. If you have minimal tissue, I recommend placing the implants behind the muscle. All this will be discussed during your consultation.
