Botox to reduce upper traps and neck? (photos)

Question

Answer is prob no but I might as well as. I dislike how my upper back/neck area looks. In the gym I'm conscious of form & only do raises to parallel & for rows I keep my scapula down & really squeeze rhomboids, but it's not making a difference it's discouraging to see my neck start to resemble that of an older woman's-bulky & curving forward. Are there ANY treatments? Botox for atrophy? I wish I could hire a doc to carve out that nice curve I used to have...Thanks for any advice

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Your photographs offer limited views of your back but it appears that the bulkiness may be either a lipoma or excess adipose tissue rather than muscle.  In this case liposuction would offer the best treatment.  See an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation to discuss.

It is impossible to see what is going on from your photo. It could be fat which would best be addressed with liposuction or it could be your muscle which, yes, could be treated with Botox. My best advice would be for you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to be examined in person. Best of luck.

Neurotoxins can help improve the appearance of thickened muscles but results would be temporary and would require a significant amount given the large muscle mass.  Consult with a board-certified and experienced physician.

It is difficult to tell from the pictures you have provided if it is a hypertrophy of trapezoid muscle or just a buffalo hump. If it is a buffalo hump, liposuction will definitely help, if on the other hand your trapezoid muscles are so hypertrophied, then yes you could use botox to reduce the muscle bulk. It is my personal recommendation that you have an in-person evaluation by plastic surgeon. Good luck from New York City
