One eye opens wider than the other & it doesn’t close all the way. What would correct this? (Photo)

Question

My Dr. is going to put a weight in the left eyelid because it doesn’t close all the way. When my eyes are open it’s much bigger than the right eye. Would putting weights in left eye help both problems?

Hello socco66,Placing a gold weight on the upper eyelid does help in closing the eyelid to protect the cornea. However, just from looking at your pictures it is hard for me to say its the right procedure for you. A detailed exam needs to be performed. My suggestion is to seek out an expert oculoplastic surgeon to have this discussion.Cheers

A gold weight can be very useful for patients whose eye doesn't blink well from a facial palsy. It does not help nighttime closure. There are many causes of lid retraction and poor closure. Make sure that you have been completely evaluated by a fellowship trained Oculoplastic surgeon.
