How many grafts can be harvested from my donor site? (Photo)

I have a weak donor area and also thin hair. After a consultation the nurse told me that they probably could harvest max. 1500 grafts. Howmany grafts do you think that could be harvest. I like to keep my hair 3 to 9 mm on the back a size.

Photos cannot determine how many grafts you can harvest.  1500 may be a respectable range but you need to worry if 1500 grafts would meet your goal and expectations.

Thanks for the question. Based on your photos, the 1000-1500 grafts might be good option for you, but it would be wrong to say something for sure. You should see a board certified surgeon. You can then plan the process together and discuss the results. I wish you all the best.

Without being able to measure your hair in person it's very hard to say how many grafts you could give. 1500 is fairly low considering the average is over 5000, but whether or not 1500 is inaccurate I couldn't say without a full consultation. But, it's possible that 1500 may be enough to accomplish what you want regardless, so maybe it won't be a problem for you.

A lot will depend on the skill set of you surgeon and clinic that you choose. A typical patient has between 6,000 - 8,000 grafts available using the FUE method in the hands of the right surgeon.

your donor site harvesting is a hard case .. because of thin hair and increased transection rates. But I think a very experienced hand may harvest around 3500-4000 grfats from that b donor area in one session

The donor area of a Caucasian male will support between 4000-8000 grafts and the number of grafts that you take out in a single session depends upon your needs, the technique used and the surgeons skills
