You must acknowledge that Tummy Tuck means JUST skin resection and most likely a small waist is NOT part of the result. In reality the only procedure which achieves a small waist will be the tight muscle repair and sometimes the combination with liposuction to the waist line. But the genetics plays a very important role. Reducing sizes is not part or the expected result after a Tummy Tuck unless you get a muscle repair, significant liposuction and also losing weight which is on you.Be encouraged.Dr. Cardenas
A smaller waist may be possible depending on your body shape. Measure the distance between your pelvis ( iliac crest) and your lowest rib.If this distance is long, " long waisted" and your PS does an aggressive muscle plication ( tightening ), the waist can be narrowed.
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question! After a tummy tuck your waist change and get better, but it always depend on your body shape and how the plastic surgeon work.I recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals.Good luck :)
Thank you for your your question. Typically you do loose inches at the waist after tummy tuck especially when liposuction is done during the procedure. Patients do usually wish to buy new pants after abdominoplasty and liposuction. We typically tell our patients to wait until 3 months post op to allow the majority of swelling to resolve before sizing new pants. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. I get this question a lot. The idea behind a tummy tuck is to remove the loose and excess skin. Most of the time there is abdominal wall tightening that helps flatten the abdomen as well. If liposuction is also used at the waist, the waist size can indeed get smaller and this may allow you to wear a smaller t-shirt size. Jeans are worn around your hips and most of the time the work of a tummy tuck is done above the level of the hips and therefore I don't expect jean size to go down. However, if you tuck the extra skin into your jeans versus wear the skin on the outside of your jeans, then removal of the excess skin can indeed make your jean size go down. I agree it is rather confusing but this can easily be addressed at your consult. I hope this helps.
Thank you for this interesting question. During pregnancy the right side and the left side of the abdominal muscles must separate to accommodate the growing fetus. The muscles of the left and right side never cross the vertical midline and this is what allows a woman’s abdomen to exp...
It has been shown that abdominoplasties can improve overall core strength and thus relieve lower back pain. This is especially true if you have rectus muscle diastasis, or separation of rectus muscles. When that happens, you have a decrease in core strength, and that contributes to some lower b...
It is possible to perform all these procedures simultaneously, but you need a thorough work up by a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if this is the right choice. You'll have several weeks down time and activity restrictions as a result as well.
