Will my Vanquish ME treatment be effective if my skin heats to 39 degrees instead of 40?

Hello! I had some Vanquish ME treatments and heard the skin should reach 40 degrees Celsius to be effective, but my skin has been only reaching 39. Will it have any effect..? I think I notice some results but not sure. Thank you!

Hello and thank you for your question. The efficacy of Vanquish ME is not measured in Celsius.  It is measured by the percent of heat absorption.

Vanquish ME is a radiofrequency treatment that targets the fat below the skin and temperature of the skin is not important. Exilis Ulra 360 is a radiofrequency treatment that targets the skin for tightening. For Exilis we do want to heat the skin to at least 40 degrees centigrade if possible. Many office offer both treatments and sometimes in an alternating fashion. The patient will often wonder about the temperature for Vanquish but it is not measured as it is inconsequential for effective treatment.

Thank you for your question. The target of the radio-frequency energy is below the skin in the subcutaneous fat cell layer with the goal of raising the temperature of the fat cells and triggering their death. Precautions are taken to keep the skin cool including the use of fans so that an incidental skin burn does not occur. Variations such as room temperature and the fan in use will effect the skin temperature but not have a significant effect on fat cell death.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

Successful treatment with Vanquish ME depends on the percent effective treatment which appears on the readout and can be reviewed at any time after the treatment. Lower skin temperature can be effected by room temperature, fans etc. At the end of your next treatment, ask to review the effectiveness on the monitor.
