A columellar strut can shift if it is not placed accurately, or is too long for the space it occupies. If it is a consistent problem it can be corrected by re-positioning, shortening, or fixing it in position better. many times this can be done with local anesthesia. In order to really give you an accurate answer a personal consultation is recommended.
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. I have fixed this issue before. The answer really depends on your individual examination. I recommend that you either return to your primary surgeon or seek consultation with a qualifiedboard-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. The short answer to your question is that repositioning a columella strut graft can be performed under local anesthesia. I think it is more important to make certain the reason for the graft displacement is addressed appropriately. Was the graft too large? Is there too much tension on the columella? Is a strut graft even necessary?
It really depends on why the strut is displaced. It may be too long and to one side of the nasal spine for example. It is fairly easy to straighten it under local but the surgeon needs to evaluate the reason for the displacement and correct that also.
It depends upon what needs to be done. Why is your strut out of position in the first place? You would need to be evaluated.
You are still relatively fresh out of surgery at 2 weeks. The tip especially can look very swollen at this time. Be positive and give it some time and hopefully what you see is just swelling. FOllow up with your surgeon as planned. Good luck
Thanks for the question. You should be able to flying by 1-2 weeks after your surgery. But this is valid only with assuming postoperative recovery is uneventful. If any unexpected incident happens in your treatment process, this time can be extended or shortened. I wish you all the best.
