Hello, I am looking to get a filler to treat tissue loss due to steroid injections. I had the steroid injection done intraorally and noticed these dents shortly after. My surgeon told me it is likely due to that, as they were not present at all prior. Can a filler such as Juvederm Voluma fill this area and restore it to the way it was before? How much do you think will need to be used?
Answer: Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation with Injectable Fillers -- Radiesse, Sculptra, Surgical Implants, See an Expert Thank you for your question!A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline and improve the chin crease. Implants are still a great option once you are 100% positive that you are ready for a permanent enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert; our practice is located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Saline Injections, Subcision & Fillers Can Be Helpful For Improving Intralesional Steroid-Induced Atrophy As a rule, intralesional steroids depot in the skin for 21-28 days. So, don't panic, given time (usually at least a few weeks), you may see even considerable improvement. Your physician can also use intralesional saline (salt) injections to break up any crystals of steroid that may be present that may be contributing to the indentations. If, after several weeks, there is no improvement, then fillers are a reasonable treatment approach. I would not recommend permanent fillers, as these are well known to possess the potential for giving rise to complications even five, ten or twenty years after injection that are very difficult to treat. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are natural and may be injected along with subcision to give long-lasting improvements. Make sure that you are consulting with a board certified aesthetic physician. Best of luck.

Answer: Indentations after steroid injections may spontaneously improve over 8 weeks. The first treatment should be tincture of time before getting the areas filled. If you have a permanent area of skin thinning and dimpling, microdroplet Silikon-1000 may be considered for permanent improvement. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Answer: Filler injections This is a common area to receive fillers and almost any king of hyaluronic acid filler will work. Another option is fat injections using your own fat. I actually prefer fat in many cases and some patients retain the fat indefinitely. Good luck

Answer: Steroid depressions fill themselves in within 3-6 months 80% of the time. The odds are good that you won't need a filler at all if you just give it enough time since 80% of steroid atrophy depressions fill themselves in within 3-6 months and this has only been 1 1/2 months according to the photos.
