It is good to be aware of blood thinners prior to surgery, you should be OK, but be sure to inform your surgeon and anesthesiologist. Good luck.

Aspirin has the effect of making your platelets less "sticky" and consequently they increase the risk of bleeding or bruising.  The effect lasts for the lifetime of the platelet, about 10 days.  By 10 days you have new platelets that function normally.  By 9 days, 90% of your platelets should be fine.  I would not think that this would have any influence on your surgery, but be certain to discuss with your doctor.  Best of luck with your upcoming procedure.  

A lot of the Alka Selzer products have aspirin and most PS would advise stopping at least 7 days before surgery. you should be OK but maybe run this past your PS.

Aspirin inhibits platelets (which cause clots) from sticking together, thus increasing the risk of bleeding during and after surgery. It is recommended that aspirin be withheld for 7-10 days prior to an elective surgical procedure. I would make the surgeon and anesthesiologist aware.

Aka seltzer has aspiring in it. Usually by 10 days or so, it should be ok. You should run this by your surgeon.

In my experience this is not a problem with surgery or anesthesia, but the real question is if you have a lot of GI reflux you might be at a higher aspiration risk.  Be sure to discuss with your surgery team.

Usually plastic surgeons wait at least a weeks time, and slightly longer when someone has taken a blood thinner just  before surgery is scheduled, as Alka Seltzer which contains aspirin can cause bleeding. Waiting 9 to 10 days is probably the best amount of time to wait as your blood will clot normally as your platelets that are involved in blood clotting are now new and available to you. You should do fine but confide in your surgeon the exact dates involved.
