What stage of recovery should I be at 9 weeks after my Breast reduction ?

I am due to go on a long haul flight / holiday uk to China , sightseeing / touring 9 weeks post op , my surgeon says it should be fine if no complications arise . I am healthy , 49 , 5'7" tall , 140 lbs , none smoker .

As long as there are no complications in your recovery you should be fine. Follow the instructions given to you by your surgeon!

You should be doing very well by nine weeks and able to participate in all activities. Even with minor complications, you should be all healed by 9 weeks. It would take something catastrophic to limit you that far out and that is very rare.

The healing after breast reduction is very rapid, limiting your physical activities only for three weeks. Most of the tissue removal is performed using electrocautery, which limits blood loss. This makes for a faster recovery as well. I tell my patients they can do whatever they want after 3 weeks . This includes exercising. You may certainly go on a long trip after 9 weeks.

It takes several months for the breast tissues to settle
after breast reduction surgery. There is a lot of swelling initially, and this
slowly resolves over 3-6 months although it may even take up to a year to fully
resolve.Because of all the swelling and
tissue changes, it is difficult to know what the final results will be after
breast reduction surgery for up to one year.  I usually ask my patients to stay in town for 1 month after surgery, unless they are out of state.

You're PS is right, at 9th week of recovery there is no physical restriction assuming that you haven't experienced infection during the initial healing stage and you are healthy and non-smoker. Good luck and best wishes.
