Hi, I gave birth last June 12, 2021 and would like to ask if it is safe for me to get a tummy tuck? I underwent a caesarean surgery and the cut was not a bikini cut, it was vertical so I’m wondering how the tummy tuck scar will look like. And if it will leave a scar?

Answer: Tummy tuck after c-section (cut was vertical, not bikini)? Thanks so much for your question, Having had a vertical c-section incision rather than a horizontal one may influence the approach your plastic surgeon takes for a tummy tuck. Vertical c-section scars tend to be more challenging to incorporate into the tummy tuck incision, but it's still possible to perform the procedure. During your consultation with a plastic surgeon, they will assess your abdominal area, including the scar from the c-section, and discuss the best approach for your tummy tuck. They may need to adjust the incision placement to accommodate the existing scar and achieve the desired results. Sincerely, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol

Answer: Tummy tuck You can undergo an abdominoplasty which will eliminate the vertical scar from your c-section. The new scar will be transverse lying low and can be covered by your underwear. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
