Is it safe to have laser resurfacing after having a deep chemical peel 30 years ago?

Either laser and/or resurfacing could work for you depending on your skin type. Having had a previous peel/surgery is not going to impact that decision.

In my opinion, deep chemical peeling is more effective and less risky than ablative laser resurfacing. It also results in faster healing. This, coupled with the fact that you apparently had excellent results long ago (and methods of chemical peeling have improved considerably since then), makes the choice seem apparent. A deep chemical peel such as a phenol or Bakers peel does leave some scarring, however an experienced dermatologist with multiple laser resurfacing platforms available can do laser resurfacing safely with excellent results depending on your skin type and the degree of wrinkling that you have. Don't go to an inexperience MedSpa for this type of treatment!
