I'm 45, just separated, interested in improving my overall facial appearance. Looking for advice. If fat transfer, prefer local anesthesia. What would you recommend?
Answer: Fat Transfer Fat transfer is a great way to create subtle but significant changes in appearance in both men and women. You have a little bit of upper eyelid hooding, but I'm not sure I would do an upper lid blepharoplasty as this often can feminize the face. Fat into the lower eyelids and temples and cheeks (and possibly jawline) help improve masculine, facial architecture as one ages.

Answer: Eyelid surgery You are a candidate for an upper "blepharoplasty." This procedure would remove some of the excess skin from your upper eyelid, which would get rid of the sagging appearance and open up your eyes more. As for a fat transfer, you could potentially put some under your eyes to reduce some of the hollowness. Overall your face has good fullness everywhere else. You have not lost much collagen or fat in other places. Our office provides in-person or virtual consultations if you would like to discuss options further.

Answer: Facial fat transfer Based on your photo, it looks like you would benefit from a facial fat transfer or Renuva, which is less invasive. Best of luck !

Answer: Facial aesthetics Facial aesthetics are primarily determined by bone structure. Is the facial skeletal structure that determines what each unique persons facial appearance looks like. The difference between attractive or not so much, masculine or feminine is primarily determined by skeletal structure. Facial aging has more to do with soft tissues, but does have a facial skeletal component as well. Creating an accurate assessment and the ability to see aesthetic improvements is a bit of an art form. Simply adding volume for the sake of adding volume isn’t necessarily going to make you look better. If volume deficit is keeping you from looking your best than adding volume can definitely be helpful. Finding the right providers are always key. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
