I am considering 360 iand inner tighs lipo with local anesthesia My A1C is 9 Is it safe?
Answer: Get A1c lower first Most surgeons I know would prefer your A1C to be lower than that. Probably lower than 7 for elective cases like liposuction. You would be at risk for more complications, particularly an infection.

Answer: Liposuction safe. Safety is a relative term. Safety can have different meanings and different interpretations. It’s highly unlikely having Liposuction is going to cause serious medical complications or fatal outcomes. In regards to level of invasiveness or having serious medical complications Liposuction is relatively safe. Probably consistent with driving a car for about a week or two. I use driving as a reference point in regards to safety for life-threatening activities. driving is something most people can relate to and is a fairly high risk activity. The fatalities for an average driver is one in 10,000 per year. I don’t have exact statistics for Liposuction but I would imagine the fatality risk or grave morbidity is probably one per 50,000. There are many things people can be anxious about when it comes to having elective surgical procedures. In my opinion serious medical complications including Faye love comes while often on the forefront how many people considering elective surgery is probably not something that is in reality worthy of wasting your efforts on. In my opinion the biggest risk and what patients should be concerned about is disfigurement and maximizing having an outcome that is positive and consistent with what the procedure can and cannot accomplish. Liposuction it’s often misunderstood and people often did not have a good conception of what subcutaneous fat distribution manipulation can and cannot accomplish. Fat distribution is only one of many variables that contribute to body contour. Of all the patients I have consultation with on the small percentage fall in the category of being excellent candidates. Most people in fact are only average candidates at best and about 25% of people I meet simply not good candidates for Liposuction and I either recommend not having the procedure or setting expectations accordingly. In regards to having quality outcomes and having the overall process be a positive experience it is important to first and foremost understand your own candidacy for the procedure. There are after all only two variables that determine the quality of liposuction results. The first is patient candidacy and the second is provider selection. Candidacy for Liposuction is not straightforward and requires skill and experience to determine accurately. Remember the candidacy it’s only the starting point but does determine what the potential outcome can be if the procedure is performed well.To get an accurate assessment in regards to your candidacy you will need in person consultations with sufficiently experienced surgeons to make a good assessment. Plastic surgeons who do not have sufficient experience will get assessments wrong despite having skill or not when it comes to doing Liposuction well. I busiest way to summarize Liposuction candidacy by describing the perfect candidate for Liposuction which I sometimes summarize with the three words “young, tight and pudgy” While sometimes I get chubby 20-year-olds who have an undesirable fat distribution come in for a consultation those type of patients do not represent average candidates. A more typical scenario would be a middle-aged woman who is at several pregnancies and is in her mid-40s. Lower extremity liposuction is technically challenging and the number of patients who get quality results is relatively scarce. Skin laxity contributes greatly to contour in this area and skin laxity is not improved by liposuction and can be made worse. The lower extremity is circumferential . Liposuction needs to follow that contour and this requires movement of the patient and dexterity on behalf of the surgeon guide To get a good assessment and begin the process of vetting plastic surgeons regarding skill and experience I recommend all patients have multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who seem to have it a good reputation for doing liposuction. I recommend patient start the process by having quality pictures of their own bodies the same way plastic surgeons take before and after pictures. It’s helpful to have pictures of your own body to use as a reference point during consultations. Having pictures of your own body is also helpful in getting an understanding of what the procedure can and cannot accomplish when reviewing before and after pictures. Candidacy for liposuction varies greatly based on a number of variables such as age, skin condition, the amount of subcutaneous fat available etc. etc. When looking at before and after pictures only select patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. I suggest patients start by scheduling at least five in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons in their community. During each consultation ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures for Liposuction results of the areas you’re interested in having treated. Providers may be apprehensive to do this and will instead prefer to show you preselected sample images representing the best results of their career. Wow pictures may be impressive seeing preselected results representing the providers best outcomes is however not helpful when it comes to getting a clear understanding of what average results look like or with results of someone with your candidacy is going to look like. As providers to only show you before and after pictures of the previous patients who have the same candidacy for Liposuction that results that you do. This means patients should be generally the same age with the same skin texture, same amount of body fat and overall same body shape and size. Ask providers to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and outcomes that did not turn out as well as they had hoped for. Again, providers may be apprehensive and want to stick to showing you their best results and show you how talented they are. For reference and experience surgeon should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like liposuction. liposuction is after all the number one performed cosmetic surgery procedure. Bring printed pictures of your own body with you and use those for reference when reviewing before and after pictures. Look carefully at the pictures they’re showing you and compare them to the pictures of your own body to make sure they look similar. Candidacy has a massive impact on what this procedure can and cannot accomplish. Look carefully at The providers results making sure there are no skin contour irregularities in any of the treated areas. Ask providers to point out specifically what areas for treated with Liposuction and what areas were not treated. Look carefully at transition zones between treated and untreated areas to make sure they look appropriate and natural. A sufficiently experience provider should have what seems like an endless supply of before and after pictures that closely resemble what your body looks like. Take careful notes during each consultation about the thoroughness of each aspect of a consultation including review of before and after pictures. You should also consider how thorough the provider is about other aspects of the consultation as well such as review of medical history, preparation for surgery, physical examination, assessment, recommendation of procedures and alternatives, discussing the risks and benefits and how they are managed including the incidence, recovery from surgery etc. etc. A thorough consultation should leave you with a good understanding of your candidacy for the procedure and what that procedure can accomplish for your candidacy in the hands of each provider as shown by multiple before and after pictures of previous patients who had similar body characteristics to your own. Continue having consultations until you feel very confident you found the most talented provider with the most experience in your community. Liposuction results are permanent and irreversible. If done poorly patients will be left disfigured. Ones performed badly done liposuction and cannot be improved upon. If you have any doubts about the skill of your procedure and simply slow down and schedule more consultations. You may or may not be a good candidate for Liposuction. You didn’t include pictures so we can’t begin to make an assessment. Simply being a board-certified plastic surgeon with a overall good reputation and years of experience does not mean that somebody has mastered liposuction. Doing this procedure while on a consistent basis is far more difficult than most people believe. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of choosing as efficiently talented and experience provider when it comes to Liposuction. You’ll be reminded every day for the rest of your life so please choose your provider carefully.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
