Antidepressants & Risk of Hematoma for Breast Augmentation

You should be able to continue taking your Lexapro before and after surgery with no increase in risk of hematoma. Your surgeon will want to discuss all medications you take including prescription, over the counter medications and supplements. She/He will advise those which need to stopped or avoided prior to and/or after surgery.

You can take Lexapro prior to surgery and it does not increase your risk of bleeding. Your surgeon will give you a list of things to avoid to decrease your risk of bleeding.

I suggest you discuss this with your plastic surgeon and your prescribing physician.
