I got them to cover a 2mm. My teeth were originally skinny now they look quite bigger obviously to cover in a 2mm gap. I'm worried they look too big though, do they look bad? They're not glued in yet, going tomorrow, but i'm worried. Should i have some shaved off the bottom so they don't look so big, or will that look worse? My dentist thinks they look completely normal, and i'm just not used to it due to previously skinny teeth. What does everyone think? Do they look ok or what is recommended?
Answer: Balanced proportions require doing more than 2 porcelain veneers Closing gaps with porcelain veneers is not easy. Actually, let me clarify.CORRECTLY closing gaps with porcelain veneers is not easy. Factor number one, you MUST do 8-10 teeth, NEVER just 2. The edge of the veneers at the gap must be below the gum line, and the emergence of the other veneers must have a shift as well.Your results are "fine" if adequate is the goal. If you want GREAT, then it will take "more" including evaluating providers.

Answer: Close Gap or Ideal Smile: What is your ultimate goal? If your ultimate goal was merely to close the gap you can re-contour the teeth by rounding edges and reshaping reflective surfaces to make the teeth appear narrower. Sometimes giving back a tiny gap makes the case instantly better. I would rather always look at the entire smile and function and esthetics. You have an extremely narrow and underdeveloped maxilla and I would recommend utilizing the DNA Appliance and Epgenetic Orthodontics to create a full wide healthy smile. Ideally with a narrow smile the best approach would be 10 veneers where the entire smile and all the teeth are proportional in size. Be very careful with how many veneers you do, in general the worst esthetic choice is six anterior veneers. 2, 4, 8, and 10 veneers almost always give the best smile. Six veneers are usually done by less artistic dentists. Prior to doing any finalization you should always begin with a diagnostic wax up. This is similar to architects building models prior to starting to build. Seeing how a smile actually looks in your mouth before finalization makes a world of difference.Ira L Shapira DDSDiplomat, American Academy of Pain ManagementDiplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep MedicineRegent & Fellow, International College CranioMandibular OrthopedicsChair, American Alliance of TMD Organizations

Answer: Teeth too large? #DrSarahThompson Hello there,The veneers do not look great, but they may look okay to most people. Compared to how your teeth used to look, however; they look 10 times better. Whenever I close a gap that large on a patient, I usually recommend veneering the front 4 to 6 teeth to prevent from having to make the veneers extra wide. Deciding to veneer only the two front teeth may have been what you and your dentist decided, based on your cost:benefit ratio. Of course, I would have recommend doing 2-4 additional teeth to achieve that best look, but for some patients, that's just not in their budget. Good luck and I hope this helps. Answer: We All Agree I agree with the other dentists comments. If you look into adding any more veneers, like the 2 teeth on either side of the new veneers, DO HAVE THE DENTIST DO A " MOCK UP" in composite on the 2 side teeth. That way you can view, in your own mouth, how adding only the 2 teeth on either side will look. I cannot even tell by a photo if it will work or not. I need to look at you in the chair. Will it look disproportional to the cuspids, the eye teeth, which are still a bit narrow? I don't know. Myself and the other dentists are trying to think of a way you might salvage what you have, while making it look much better.Lesson the be learned here, is ALWAYS VIEW A WAX UP OF WHAT WILL BE DONE TO YOUR TEETH, prior to going ahead with anything. Perhaps 2 veneers was not the best cosmetic treatment. Including more teeth from the get-go, might have looked much better Those of us with expert experience in cosmetic dentistry will almost never proceed with veneers without a wax up. In my office, when a patient presents with a large space (diastema) between front teeth, or any other teeth, I do a pretend bonding, right in the office, closing the space. Both the patient AND I, LOOK TOGETHER. I can usually only tell if veneering only 2 teeth will appear too large. I like the "in the chair check, "for myself and the patient. How many veneers should be done, depends on the size of the gap and the size of the surrounding teeth. I have done my cases both ways, sometimes only bonding the space by adding bonding to look natural, not even covering the whole tooth. Sometimes 2 veneers, and sometimes 4 or 6 to get the nicest result. But never without first doing the Cosmetic Mock Up, that both the patient and I like the result!

Answer: Oversized veneers Your veneers do appear very large because your other teeth are small and tipped inward. I think you should consider doing more teeth and leaving the front two the size they are. I like the size if there were other teeth adjacent to them that supported their size. The fact that your other teeth tip inward allows for very conservative additive restorations to be placed adjacent to the central teeth. Your outcome would be amazing.
