Vaser lipo in upper arms - is recovery is possible without any help from others?

Thank you for your question regarding VASER liposuction of the arms. Every plastic surgeon has their own routine. Typically, I perform arm VASER liposuction under general anesthesia and recovery takes about 2 to 3 weeks. As a general rule, you are not allowed to drive yourself home after a procedure involving an IV or general anesthetic. A responsible adult should take you home. Uber and taxis are not allowed. Regarding recovery, I would suggest you take it easy for 4 to 5 days. You are allowed to walk around, but any extra duty like laundry and activity, I think should be postponed. Thank you for your question. I agree with my colleagues that it is unsafe to drive immediately after under going general anesthesia. Additionally I recommend you have someone with you for 24 hours following the surgery to monitor you in the rare case you should have a complication from the anesthesia or surgery. Generally patients are too sore for housework after liposuction and I recommend limited activity the first 72 hours.

Thank you for your question. In my clinic we perform Vaser Liposuction under local anaesthetic which is well tolerated by our patients. Each surgeon has their own policy so I recommend you speak with your surgeon regarding your questions. I will not allow my patients to drive themselves home following surgery however if it is a smaller surgery, such as triceps they may take a taxi. Most patients would be able to care for basic activities for the first 24 hours but it is more advisable to have another adult stay with you to help out. Good luck!

Thank you for your question, if you are having anesthesia, is highly recommended that you have someone to take you home, after your surgery, even if just for the first night.  

Hi there.  We usually recommend refraining from strenuous activity, including heavy lifting for two weeks.  Definitely wait 72 hours before attempting any activities that would be rigorous and give your body a chance to recover from the swelling and soreness.  Listen to how your body feels over the weeks following the procedure.  As for driving home, though this may be possible (check with your doctor), we always recommend having a driver if possible.  Best wishes.
