I have had very good success with facial Ultherapy work for many years without my knowledge of any patients of mine developing fat loss. The monitor allows me to visualize the depth of treatment and I target the energy based on each patient's anatomy in the specific area that I am working.Energy devices, no matter how safe, can have risks including the very rare thermal events where skin may heat up too much. I check the transducer periodically to make sure it is in perfect condition as I do the treatment, use just the right amount of ultrasound gel and the right contact with the skin, and check the monitor for the fit of the transducer on the skin. I have not seen any problems. One or two patients in all my years of doing Ultherapy have had some self-limited bruising for a couple of weeks. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice.
