I am booked in for a breast augmentation in June. I am quite petite and am after a relatively small, natural look. I do like the look of anatmoical implants, however my surgeon prefers not to use these due to the risk of rotation.I am currently considering the motiva ergonomix, however am struggling to find reviews (both professional and personal). I was wondering if anyone on RS has any experience with this implant? Any advice would be appreciated!
Answer: Anatomical shaped Implants Hi there, Sounds like you'll be a great candidate for anatomical shaped implants in achieving an elegant natural looking result! Although it's an additional risk over round implants (theoretically!), this should not preclude you from choosing anatomical shaped implants if that's your preference. Choice of implants and surgical technique should be guided by the ultimate surgical outcome you want to achieve. Precise pocket dissection is very important to minimise any risk of rotation in these circumstances. I have no experience with Motiva implants and I'll be inclined to go with the more reputable implant brands with track record that will give you the best outcome in the long term. Best wishes Ellis Choy

Answer: Shaped Versus Motiva Ergonomix Hello,Shaped implants are excellent, and have an overall lower rate of complications than round and smooth implants, even with the small chance of rotation included. Keep in mind that round implants flip (rotation in a different plane) as frequently as shaped implants rotate. Shaped implants don’t necessarily give a different appearance than round implants; both implant size and initial breast size influence shape more than implant shape. Motiva implants have almost ten years of commercial use, and with more than half a million women implanted. To suggest that they could end up having a problem like PIP implants is not warranted given their compliance and good performance in a completed UK study, and an ongoing FDA study in the US. The differences between Mentor shaped and Natrelle shaped are as big as the differences between shaped and round implants. Go visit surgeons who’s are comfortable and experienced using either; they’ll know what’s best for you.

Answer: Motiva - Dont believe the hype Hi. The supposed advantages of Motiva are that it has microtexturing which is supposed to reduce capsular contracture rates. There is no good evidence to support this and at this time I do not believe their claims. Their has been a litany of disasters with newer cheaper implants (ie PIP) and my strong advice is to go with either Allergan or Mentor which have been around for decades. Round vs teardrop depends on the size and the look you are trying to achieve.RegardsDamien

Answer: Motiva ergonomix dilemma Hi thank you for your question. I use Motiva implants regularly and have found them to be a good choice for many women. You are right to be concerned about the risk of rotation with anatomical implants (though in experienced hands this risk is low).Having said that one of the benefits of the Ergonomix implant is it has a very natural feel, it moves in a natural way and is a good option for those looking for a natural look. The result can be tailored by altering volume and projection of the implant which your surgeon should be able to discuss with you.As you live in Australia be sure to choose a plastic surgeon who holds the FRACS qualification.Best wishes.

Answer: Tear drop implants Thanks for your questionIf you want tear drop then you should tell your surgeon that is your preferenceThe risk of rotation in primary breast augmentation is so low that it really isn't worth factoring that into your decision making.Motiva implants are new and very little info is available in AustraliaI would stick to the more reputable companies until the data around Motiva is more robust.I hope this helps and good luck.
