What are the side effects for Juvederm Volbella in lips?

I rec'vd 0.8mL Volbella in my lips in July - I never planned this, but was receiving therapeutic botox & the Dr recommended I plump up my 'ageing' lips. I've never ever considered filler, but acted on impulse & I now stress about possible side effects all day everyday. Have you had much experience with Volbella, and has it caused granulomas or other issues in your patients lips? Can pregnancy hormones affect filler & cause reactions? What is the average time it really lasts in your patients?

Thank you for your question about side effects of Volbella in lips. Volbella is in the hyaluronic acid family of fillers. They have been FDA approved in the US and Europe for many years and are viewed as very safe. HA fillers are also fully reversible. There are always the risks of granulomas...but they are very rare. I am not aware of hormones affecting fillers specifically, but hormones can certainly affect the skin pigmentation and in other ways. Typically people find Volbella to last up to a year.

To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment.

Volbella is a hyaluronic acid filler similar to the others available on the market. HA fillers have a very high safety profile and are used around the world. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is found naturally in the human body. It is rare to be allergic to it and I have not seen any granulomas with Volbella or similar products made with HA. You did not mention whether you were happy with the results. One of the biggest advantages to using HA fillers is that they naturally dissolve within a year and be be dissolved more quickly when hyaluronidase is injected. The only side effects of using Volbella or Juvederm that I have seen are temporary swelling and bruising.

Are you experiencing any negative reaction to the Volbella? Most patients only experience a temporary swelling and bruising that's related to the injection process. These go away in about a week or two. More serious side effects include infection and granuloma, but their occurrence is rare. If you aren't experiencing any negative side effects then I recommend you not stress out about them. Results generally last for 9-12 months, at which point the product will disappear.

The chances of having any side effects from Volbella is rare.  Volbella is made from hyaluronic acid which is naturally found in your body therefore your body does not reject it.  Granulomas can occur with filler, however volbella is a very soft so its unlikely .    Hope that helps you.

your question Unhappy lips. I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the results of your treatment. Volbella is a
hyaluronic acid filler designed to enhance the lips. Granulomas are possible with fillers. The safety and efficacy of fillers have not been demonstrated in women who are pregnant. Therefore it is not known whether pregnancy may affect the fillers but theoretically it may be possible. The pivotal studies demonstrated that most patients enjoy the results of their Volbella treatment for approximately 1 year. At that point the appearance is back to baseline. Please

Unhappy lips,To put your mind at ease, Juvederm Vobella has a high safety profile with extremely rare side effects.  The most common reactions being tenderness, bruising and redness.  In my practice I have never experienced a granuloma with any of the Juvederm products.    Juvederm Vobella, which lasts about a year, is an excellent product for my patients that want a soft natural fullness to the lips , or to smooth out the fine lines or "lipstick bleed" lines around the mouth.  As a general rule, with any pregnant woman, I would hold off on getting any injections until after you deliver.  Dr. Edween

Volbella is my new favorite lip filler! It is absolutely amazing: soft, smooth, natural plump lips with very little pain upon injection (extremely unusual in the lips) and little to no swelling (also unusual when treating lips). That's the patient feedback I get consistently. This product is made of hyaluronic acid and thus, is 100% natural (it's a sugar that your body produces every day). Other than injection pain, possible bruising and swelling, you should experience little in the way of side effects. You can stop stressing about possible side effects. There should be no hormonal effects or granuloma formation and you can expect it to last 9-12 months.

Juvederm Volbella is a hyaluronic acid filler used to soften the lines on and around the lips.  It is an excellent product for providing definition and smoothing to the lips and perioral area.  Since the product is made of hyaluronic acid (like the entire Juvederm family of products), it has a strong safety profile.   Our office has treated many patients with Volbella and has been extremely pleased with the results.  The most common side effects are bruising and swelling, but we have found these to be fairly minimal with Volbella.  The product can last up to one year.  However, I would suggest following up with your provider to address any further concerns.

Juvederm volbella is a very nice filler that I have extensive experience using in Canada. It is a hyaluronic acid based filler which is longer lasting, very soft and natural, and rarely any real side effects when performed by an expert injector, other than some swelling in the first 48-72hrs, and occasionally some bruising.
