Im Desesperate please!
Answer: Nodules Post Silicone Injections Hi Fehr! Thank you for your question. I can tell you're trying to do the right thing for your health and peace of mind. You’re absolutely not alone—a lot of people who’ve had silicone injections (non-medical grade or black-market ones) eventually want to either remove it or make sure it won’t cause future problems. When a doctor says the silicone is "encapsulated," it usually means your body has formed scar tissue around the material—kind of sealing it off. While that sounds reassuring, it doesn’t always mean it’s safe to leave it there forever. Over time, encapsulated silicone can still migrate, inflame, or even trigger immune responses, especially if disrupted (like with a fat transfer or trauma to the area). Your doctor is being cautious for a good reason. Fat transfer involves injecting fat into the area, and if there’s silicone present—especially if it's free or migrated—there's a real risk of inflammation or infection. Also, fat won’t survive well in an area already compromised by foreign material. If you're feeling nodules or balls under the skin, and even though there’s no current pain, that silicone could shift, inflame, or cause issues later on. You're wise to want to get ahead of it. I recommend finding a surgeon experienced in silicone/biopolymer removal. Not every plastic surgeon handles this. You need someone experienced in gluteal silicone removal specifically. It’s delicate, and the surgeon needs to know how to remove as much as possible without damaging surrounding tissues. Don’t rush into fat grafting until the area is evaluated and cleared post-removal. Ask for an MRI. This helps see how deep the material is, how much there is, and how it’s distributed. It’s crucial for surgical planning. I hope this helps! Best of luck on your silicone removal journey!
