Hi Gina,In short- yes it's possible!I traditionally make my incisions inside the buttocks crease, which sometimes allows me to reach laterally to product in the hips. If I see on my patient's MRI that there is a significant amount of product very far laterally in the hips, I'll discuss with the patient as to whether it would warrant a separate incision for the hips. Sometimes these incisions can be placed in such a way that it is well hidden after surgery.I wish you the best of luck in your search for treatment!-Dr. Nik
The feasibility of Silicone biopolymer removal depends on the degree of inflammation and symptoms associated with the fillers. In our office, we gauge the level of soft tissue reaction in order to assess the candidacy for surgical excision vs. non-surgical management. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
Hello, thank you for your question regarding his it possible to have silicone removed from his hips. Yes, it is possible to remove silicone from the hips. If the silicone is soft, small, and localized, intra-operative ultrasound guided VASER liposuction can be used to remove the silicone and associated scar tissue. If the silicone mass is large and firm, you require an incision. Based on the location of the silicone in your hips, you may require a vertical incision over the silicone. The vertical incision is parallel with the long axis of your leg and perpendicular to the floor when you are standing. If the silicone is based higher on your hips, you may require a horizontal incision over the hips to remove the product. The horizontal incision follows your belt line and is parallel with the floor when you are standing. Either way seek a specialist. Since there are few specialists in this field, I would travel out of state to find such a specialist. I consider myself a specialist in this field. I hope that I have answered your questions removing silicone from the hips. Before you make any decisions regarding silicone removal from the hips, I would suggest you seek consultation with an expert. Please seek an experienced, board-certified, plastic surgeon. If you have any more questions regarding silicone removal from the hips, intra-operative ultra-sound guided VASER assisted liposuction for silicone removal, open technique for silicone removal or plastic surgery in general, please contact my office. Yes possible but the deformation and large scaring are limitations to ding this removal. Unless you are constantly having infections. Best to seek only in person opinions.
