Can I get Botox to reduce width of nose at base/nostrils? (photo)

Question

When I smile my nostrils flare out and my nose is quite wide across my face. Will Botox be able to slim this? I am trying to avoid a full cosmetic rhinoplasty! Thank you

Thanks for your question. Botox may potentially help in reducing how much the nostrils come up to the sides of the face when smiling, as that is done by a muscle. Unfortunately, Botox does not reduce the width of the nasal base nor does it reduce the size of the nostrils.

Botox may help with reducing how much the nostrils flare out on the sides when smiling. I would start with trying Botox in several areas to reduce the nasal flaring that you dislike. First, you are beautiful and have a fantastic smile!
I agree with trying Botox in several areas to reduce the nasal flaring that you dislike (possibly a small amount in different areas till you get the correct desired response).  I feel that you have a bit of upper teeth show with your complete smile so I would place several units at the base of your columella and just below the edge of the nares to see the effect.

There are certainly patients whose nostrils flare noticeably when speaking or smiling, seemingly with a life of their own. In these cases a few units of neurotoxin (Botox or otherwise) directly into the small muscles controlling this movement can be very helpful. However, in your case (based on the photo provided) your nose is tracking in an expected manner commensurate with the smile you produce. Therefore, I would not expect Botox to have the slimming effect you desire.
