When can I re-insert my former nose piercing following rhinoplasty?

I've had the left side of my nose cartilage pierced for five years prior to Rhinoplasty, and removed the piercing for the sake of the operation; I'm currently one month post-op. I like my nose with or without it, but I am very fond of my piercing! Minimal tip work was done, but it is still swollen. I had a closed rhinoplasty where most of the work was done through the right nostril, and the piercing is on the left side. Would it be safe if I were to put it back in at this stage of recovery?

The piercing of the left ala may not be open and could have been disrupted through the rhinoplasty. It would be safe to replace the piercing however it may require some pressure to get it back in. If there is any resistance beyond normal consult with your rhinoplasty surgeon to help replace or re-pierce the nose.

Address this question to your surgeon.  I would evaluate swelling of the nose before I gave you a specific time to have it repierced.
