I know every doctor is different in terms of their recovery instructions, however I was wondering in general, how long should one wait to start getting back into a running routine after a nose job? (no sprints, just jogging for 1-2 miles)
Answer: Exercise After Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. In general, I advise my patients to wait 4-6 weeks post-surgery before resuming their normal exercise routine. Overexertion too soon after surgery may increase swelling and delay healing time, as well as increase the risk of bleeding. It is best to start slowly and avoid contact sports for at least 6 months; even at that point it is important to be very careful. I would recommend speaking with your surgeon about his/her protocol concerning your specific procedure. I hope this information helps, and I wish you the best of luck.

Answer: Wait two weeks before exercising Hello. I advise my patients to avoid strenuous activities (such as lifting, running, sit ups, etc) for two weeks after surgery. I encourage light activities early (i.e. walking around the house, walking up/down stairs is ok, short trips to stores if you don't mind a cast, etc). Strenuous activities too soon can increase the risk of bleeding, and if the bleeding is severe enough, it may require the nose to be packed. This can possibly ruin the results a patient wants. I have many athletic patients who want to return to their regiment quickly so I can understand your question. However, these patients all were able to recondition quickly after the two weeks off. Take care.

Answer: Exercise after Rhinoplasty Thanks for your question! Light exercise is usually allowed 2 weeks after surgery and slowly adding on more strenuous activity as tolerated. Every surgeon is different in their guidelines. The most important issue is actually YOUR post op recovery course. If it is uncomplicated you may follow the general guidelines, however you may have to wait longer if there were any healing issues. Good Luck, protect your investment.

Answer: Exercise after rhinoplasty? In our office we tell patients the following: Low impact activities for the first 4-6 weeks and high impact thereafter. The reason is that you don't want to risk having any bleeding into the surgical area which is more likely the first month or so. Good luck!

Answer: Exercise after rhinoplasty In our practice we asked the patient to refrain from all exercise for 2 weeks after a rhinoplasty procedure, to avoid a nose bleed. If patient's come down with a nosebleed in the postoperative period, then a very uncomfortable packing will have to be placed in the nose which will delay the healing process
