When can I bathe after Smart Lipo?

When you've had lipo, you're going to swell. Staying comfortable after lipo is all about keeping the swelling under control. Heat causes things to swell. A nice warm bath will heat you thoroughly and is the best way to create unnecessary swelling after lipo. It's got nothing to do with infection. Take a quick shower with warm water. There's nothing magical about 2 weeks, but if you're still swollen, you'd be well advised to defer baths for longer.

I like patients to wait 10-14 days before taking a bath after liposuction treatment. Showering is okay a day later.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The other 2 doctors here have said approximately 2 weeks out from the procedure, which is not wrong, but I think that this really depends on how large the liposuction cannula entry sites were (on top of the healing ability of the individual patient). If small cannulas were used, often 1 week is enough time. If larger cannulas were used, 2 weeks would be necessary. I see all of my liposuction patients at 1 week post-treatment and discuss whether "the holes are closed" or not.

Thank you for your question. We recommend two weeks before taking the bath, because adit sites usually seal by this time. If they take bath while they are still open or not completely sealed, they can get infection which is a very serious complication in Liposuction patients. Thank you
