I haven’t been able to blink since getting botox?

Question

Hi I got botox 8 months ago & a week after it happened all I’ve had is problems dry burning eyes I can’t blink at all. bags under my eyes. botox was under my eyes in the inner corners & on the bunny.could my ocular muscle have not functioned back to normal yet? is that why I wouldn’t be blinking? I’m scared I’m never goin to naturally blink again.What do you think has happened? I’m 26. have had botox a few times.but first time together & the first time it was done under my eyes in the corners.

Botox to the low eyelid can affect blinking mechanism as it paralyzes the orbicularis could muscle, which is responsible for blinking. However, Botox only lasts for 3-4 months. If you are still having problems with blinking, it is unlikely due to Botox at this point. I recommend seeking a consultation with an oculoplastic surgeon.

Botox under the inner corner of the eye could effect the tear duct.  I suggest a follow up with the doctor who did your Botox and possibly seeing an opthamologist who would know Botox and it's effects on the eye.  Your symptoms are not a common side effect of Botox and should be addressed as soon as possible.  All the Best to you.  Alexis Parker MD
