It is perfectly normal to feel very tight on both sides one week after a breast augmentation, especially if fairly large implants were placed in fairly small breasts (which would require a higher degree of stretching of the tissue), and if they are under the muscle.Time and massage, along with the muscle relaxers if needed, are the best remedies to soften the breasts and decrease the tight feeling. Also, a "numb" feeling in the arms and/or breasts is somewhat common and should get back to normal as time goes on.Be sure to discuss your concerns with your surgeon, but try not to worry at this point as you are very early out from the surgery. By 6 weeks you should see a great deal of improvement, but it could take as long as 6 months for the final result.Hang in there!
For the first few weeks this sounds normal as long as they are not increasing in size and they are not significantly different. If one side is significantly larger than the other then you should be evaluated by your plastic surgeon soon. Usually taking NSAIDs like ibuprofen or aleve for a 5-7 days can help with some of these sensations. When you have any questions it is always a good idea to check in with your surgeon's nurse. She is usually a good resource and should be able to answer many of your questions and help determine if this is normal or if you need to be seen sooner. Best of luck on your recovery
It is very common for patients to note a sense of pressure post augmentation. This is normal and expected. It can be worsened by concurrent muscle spasm especially in the setting of a larger implant. Depending upon your starting point, 500 cc may represent a significant upsize. This may take some time to settle as the soft tissue stretches. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
Your complaint is very common following breast augmentation. It will resolve with more time. Be patient and follow your doctors recommendations.Best of luck.
It is normal at this point to feel that your breasts are tight. It can take up to 3 months implants to settle and soften. You are still early post op. Please speak to your surgeon to discuss your concerns.Regards,
Thank you for your question. It is common to have tightness at this time and especially with 500 cc implants and if you are a small frame person. It will take several weeks for the tissue to relax and implant to settle. Please continue to follow instructions from your PS.
Thanks for your question. Feeling tightness after breast augmentation is normal, and while muscle relaxers are helpful, they may not be able to eliminate all of the spasm. Depending on your frame, 500 cc implants could be considered large and therefore would be even more likely to cause spasm for an extended period. It's also more likely to be normal muscle spasm since you are feeling the tightness on both sides. You should touch base with your plastic surgeon to discuss your tightness as they will be in the best position to assure you that everything is fine.
It is expected that you will experience tightness in the first few days and weeks after implants placed under the muscle for breast augmentation. The 500 cc. implants in a first-time breast augmentation (not a revision) will certainly be expected to do this. This tightness will gradually go away as your tissues stretch to accommodate for the new implant, At about 3 months post op, you will begin to see the final result when you look at your breasts in the mirror. At about 6 months after your surgery, maximal softness will be felt. The "weird" feeling in your arm, in those who experience it, will usually go away at about 2 to 3 weeks post op.Regarding your tightness now, I suggest you call your plastic surgeon's office and see if she/he wants to prescribe a different muscle relaxant for you.
As far as size is concerned, 600cc is the exact same size in a saline or silicone gel/gummy bear implant. However, depending upon the shape or style of the implant, one may seem to be larger or smaller once implanted. I would discuss this with your board certified plastic surgeon who can show ...
When undergoing breast augmentation there are a number of choices which need to be made: saline or silicone? Volume: Larger or smaller? Incision? However, one of the most commonly debated choices is that of implants placement: subglandular/ submammary vs. subpectoral/ submuscular? While many...
So sorry you are having these issues. From the photos it does not appear that anything is abnormal. I don't know if your implants are above the muscle or beneath the muscle, but even when they are beneath the muscle, patients may still be able to feel the edge of the implant...
