How would you treat this cross cheek depression? (Photo)

Question

I had a high SMAS facelift last year and overall I am pleased with my results and rejuvenation, but on my right cheek I was left with a defect/depression that is not present on the opposite cheek. How would you treat this? Filler, thread lift or revision?

Facial sculpting and contouring can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra, which would give improvement in facial balance. Fat or implants and threads are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I think a long term filler would be the best option to correct that area of depression. Voluma or a similar type of filler can last many years and often some collagen can build up around that area if fat is used as well.

I see this occasionally in my own practice.  Almost always it is present preoperatively and becomes more noticeable as the tissues of the face are tightened.  I would personally leave it alone for about a year before pursuing filler.  Hope this helps.

A filler such as Juvederm or really any HA is a long lasting solution.
This is a quick solution that usually lasts a year or more.

I think that a filler would do well here. Visit with an experienced physician so they can feel the area and determine what best choicer would be

Cross cheek depression is easily treated with volumizing fillers like Revance, Versa, Restylane, Juvederm or Radiesse. I happen to really like Revance RHA4 or Radiesse for that particular area. Pick a practice that carries all products and can get you the best results. You deserve it! Dr. Onir

It's difficult to say without an in-person evaluation, I would recommend filler for that area before any other course of treatment is taken. A Thread lift might be beneficial but could also lead to additional puckering and exaggerate the depression. Best to speak with your treating doctor about this and see if they can provide a non-invasive revision option for you. Best of luck!

A direct examination is required for a specific recommendation. However, it appears that some type of filler would be beneficial. This could be something like Juvéderm Vollure or fat.  You might discussed this with the person who did your facelift.
