Seeking a Dr who will perform a BBL with 39 BMI?

Question

I am 5' 7 1/2 and almost 250lbs, however I have no health problems and have been the same weight for years. Please advise. I also may want a breast lift with no implants. I am willing to travel.

Far more important than the technique is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another.  See the below link on some suggestions on finding the most qualified Plastic Surgeon for you.  Always insist on a board certified plastic surgeon.

High BMI’s create higher surgical risks. Because your BMI is greater than 39, you have an increased risk of surgical complications. But also depending on how is your lifestyle for example if you are a smoker is more risk, or have high sugar level, don't do any exercise. BMI is definitely one of the risks you can control, I highly recommend to lose some weight and your BMI should be at an acceptable level before considering surgery. Thank you for your honest question. Every doctor has a different threshold for BMI, at my practice its 37. This is not a question of the surgeon's skill or preference, but of safely putting you under the general anesthesia for surgery. That being said, I recommend you look into non-surgical medical weight loss options in your area. Medically supervised weight loss will help you take the pounds off rather than trying to go at it alone. Whether your opting for a BBL or breast lift with implants, that BMI requirement is the same. Once you lose at least 15 lbs please strive to live your healthiest life, eat well and get moving, to ensure your body and heart are strong enough to withstand surgery and recovery. Best of luck to you!

The ideal BMI for aesthetics procedures is below 34%, but the more weight you lose the better results you will get. Reaching your weight goal prior to surgery would decrease the risks of complications during and after surgery and enhance results. Before any surgical decision you need to get a complete medical evaluation and laboratory exams to check everything is fine. A BMI of close to 39 is tis very high and increases your risks of complications. Most surgeons prefer patients to be 30 or lower.

A high BMI increase the risk of complications during and after your surgery, the BMI range is 30-35 and it is important have a stable weight in order to have any surgical process.

Thanks for your question.  The first step is to find a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience in BBL and body contouring to discuss your options. Keep in mind that the best candidate is one who is healthy with a normal BMI and has realistic expectations. Prior to surgery, you will also need to go see your primary physician for surgical preop to get clearance for surgery. You may search for a board certified plastic surgeon in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website.  Best wishes!
