Can you perform IPL with a Candela Gentlemax pro laser? (Photo)

Question

I purchased an IPL treatment at a medspa and was completely burned and blistered and now scarred, a supposedly rare occurance. I've had IPL before and never had an issue, just minor redness. I looked into the device they used and it was a Candela Gentlemax pro laser, it doesn't look like any other ipl device I've seen and they didn't put gel on my face like you're supposed to. I asked them and they told me that it was IPL, but I think they are lying in order to cover themselves.

Technically the gentle max pro from candela is a laser vs. IPL which is considered a light device. Although both technologies can be used to reduce the appearance of hyper-pigmentation. The Gentle Max has both an Alexandrite & a Yag which have classically been used to treat discoloration successfully just like the IPL. The cosmetic world is flooded with treatment options now, it is important to find someone you trust that has the knowledge & experience to provide the safest & best results.

The Gentle Max Pro is a laser, not an intense pulsed light (IPL) device. It is most commonly used as a hair removal device but can be used to treat benign pigmented lesions (755 nm) and vascularity (1064 nm).

Candela GentleMax Pro is a laser not a light. So it is different than IPL. However, it can absolutely be used to treat brown lesions, veins, and marks and is very effective at doing just this. I'm sorry you were burned at your treatment.
