I'm 6 months post rhinoplasty and my nose is swelling again. What should I do?

Hello. Thanks for reading my post. I had a rhinoplasty six months ago, and all swelling were gone after around 3 months of the surgey. However, fre weeks ago, I noticed that the tip of my nose ( which i used the ear cartilage) have begun to swell again! It is becoming rounded, enlarged and swelling. Please give me any advice for this. thank you!!!!

Nasal swelling post rhinoplasty can be quite distressing for patients. Patient and surgeon must be patient while the trauma of the rhinoplasty settles down. If localized swelling occurs a small dose of kenalog can improve things.

Within the first year after rhinoplasty the nose can swell multiple times. You may notice that there are certain dietary issues Yhatbwill cause some swelling or perhaps there are some positional issues as a cause of swelling. It's very difficult to judge the results of rhinoplasty within the first year. Very normal to see waxing and waning of swelling. I hope this helps.

Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.
To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.

Did you have any implants placed in the nose for augmentation? Although ear cartilage was inserted into the tip the nose can continue to have periods of swelling during the healing process. However, if the swelling is persistent and there are other signs, such as redness, pain or it is hot to the touch then it needs to be looked at because an infection can always develop after an implant has been placed despite it being present only on the bridge of the nose.
