There are no hard and fast rules on when to drive or for what distance after a BBL once you are no longer taking pain medication. Most plastic surgeons would recommend limiting your driving the first 6 to 8 weeks following the BBL. I recommend that my patients minimize sitting, even with a pillow, for the first two weeks. If they have to sit, it is critical that every 30 minutes or an hour that patients get up and stand for a few seconds to take the pressure off. This reduces the chance for fat necrosis. After 6 weeks the fat has revascularized, and you have a very good idea of your final results. Because you have to drive (be sure to use your pillow) long hours each day, it is critical that every 30 minutes or an hour you stop, get out of your vehicle, and stand for a few seconds to take the pressure off. .Driving is much worst than sitting as pushing on the accelerator or brake involves pushing back against the buttocks and lower back.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
