I have had my implants for twenty years and I would like them smaller. I want to know if I can have fluid taken out of my implants without removing them.
Answer: Can fluid be removed from my implants to reduce their size? Saline implants ripple more frequently than silicone implants, especially if they are under filled. After 20 years with no issues, the only reason to replace your saline implants is, as you mention, opting for a smaller size. The tab would have to be removed to extract fluid during surgery. Removing and replacing the implant with a smaller one may, depending upon the former incision, allow you to use it again to prevent another scar. Answer: Draining implants Some fluid could be removed from your implants in surgery. This could leave you with rippling and wrinkling depending on the amount removed. As your implants are older, it may be a better choice for you to replace your current implants with smaller ones. I recommend visiting with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Answer: Fluid Technically, fluid could be drained from your implants, but would need to be done in surgery. After draining out some fluid, you will probably notice your implants more and feel corners. If would be better to replace them with smaller implants.

Answer: Can fluid be removed from my implants to reduce their size? Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Once placed the only way to reduce an implant’s size is through a revision operation. In your case, after 20 years the best option would be to replace your original implants with new ones in a smaller size, while performing any implant pocket modifications as necessary. Hope this helps.

Answer: Can fluid be removed from my implants to reduce their size? Generally speaking, if patients have saline breast implants in place some fluid may be removed to decrease their size. Doing so however may expose the patient's to problems such as breast implant rippling. Keep in mind that removal of saline from breast implants does involve an operation (can not be done percutaneously). Given the age of your breast implants, I think that you will be best off undergoing removal/replacement of the breast implants. My best advice: select your plastic surgeon carefully. Make sure that he/she has significant experience achieving the types of outcomes you will be pleased with. Then, communicate your goals carefully, as well. Working together you will come up with a good plan to achieve your goals. Best wishes.
