Unfortunately there are no 'nonsurgical-septoplasty' procedures. Your nasal septum is composed of three layers - mucous membrane in both nostrils, and cartilage or bone in the middle. Correction of a deviated septum consists of elevating the delicate mucous membrane flaps off of the underlyingcrooked cartiladge and bone. Next removal or straightening of the cartilage and bone is performed, and the mucous membranes are sewn together. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph
Thank you for the question. A deviated septum means that the mid-line structure of the nose is shifted toward one side, the other, or both sides at different places. This can cause problems breathing in certain cases or have no functional implications. In situations where nasal breathing is compromised, surgical removal of the deflected cartilage or bone is required to correct the problem.
Thanks for the question and if it is in fact a deviated septum that is causing your problem, then a visit to a board certified plastic or facial plastic surgeon is your best option to learn what can be done and what should be done for this.
Thanks for your question. Deviated nasal septum is a deviation of cartilage and/or bone. The only way to correct this problem is with surgery. That being said, if you want to improve your airway, you could try to use a breathe-rite strip at night. It may open the airway enough that your nasal breathing and snoring improves. Best of luck.
