Why do I have one eye bag and how can I make it match the other eye? (photo)

Hi Rhee,I tend to offer fillers for lower eyelids dark circles and minor eyebags.  In your case, the assymetry in the two eyes likely indicates that you have more fat on the right lower eyelid than the left, in which case a lower eyelid fat reduction would help.  This can be performed with a lower eyelid surgery called a transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty.  There are no external incisions, only a small one on the inside of the eyelid which will not be seen, in order to removed some fat.As a non-surgical alternative some of the Nonsurgical skin tightening devices that use Radiofrequency or ultrasound seem to be able to shrink some facial fat.  I have not seen examples of this new technology specifically treating eyebags, but I have seen it shrink the fat on double chins.  These devices frequently have smaller tips to treat around the eyelid area.  Perhaps that might be a new way to use the technology.  The gold standard way to treat excess fat protruding from the lower eyelid area is still surgery, but perhaps non-surgical means are on the horizon.Best,Dr. Yang

Hi there. It does seem that you have a rather unusual problem there. And looking at the picture it looks to be just a localised bagginess. It would be good I you can contact your local plastic surgeon who can at least decipher whether it is indeed a baggy eyelid or a local fat deposit. Although, treatment for both conditions is surgical with good results. All the best!
