I am 27 and am worried about my under eye wrinkles, especially when I smile. I use sunscreen and under eye cream, but am looking for another solution. Any suggestions?
Answer: Line under the eye There are two different types of lines under the eyes. Those that are there at rest and those that come about from animation (smiling in your case). The lines that are there at rest can be alleviated with some form of resurfacing procedure or possibly by placing a filler such as Restylane deep to the muscle with the result being a plumping of the area. With young women that have those lines at rest, I have found great success with medium chemical peels. If the lines are occurring mostly with animation, then Botox can be performed, but remember that it is an off label use and could potentially take away from the utility of the muscle, which is to protect the eye, maintain the lower eyelid position, and help with the control of the tear blanket. I do not agree that an injeciton of botox will cause any kind of atrophy, as this is a temporary product that does not affect the muscle itself, but rather the neuromuscular junctions. You have a couple of options. I recommend that you speak with a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon.Good Luck

Answer: I do not think drinking plenty of water has any bearing on this line! An eye cream is always helpful.Botox is not a great option for this line for several reasons. First the line is your lower eyelid crease. It is suppose to be there. Botox will cause muscle atrophy. It actually could make the line look worse and also weaken the muscle above the line. This muscle is what holds the eyelid against the eye. While it is unlikely to cause frank ectropion, it has a substantial risk of slumping the lower eyelid which you are not going to like.My recommendation would be under eye fillers and my preferred filler is Restylane. You need a very experience injector to perform this treatment so do your homework.

Answer: You have choices for those lower lid wrinkles... and you could choose from fillers (dermal or fat) or resurfacing with fractional lasers that will help improve the appearances with minimal risks. You should see a local surgeon about what options are available to you and then you choose what is best for you.

Answer: Lower Eyelid Wrinkles It is hard to tell exactly what to do from this one photograph. Wrinkles on the lower eyelid in young people can be caused by too much muscle movement and can be treated with Botox or Dysport. It could be from hollowness and treated with a dermal filler such as Restylane or Belotero. It may also be caused by dry skin. We recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding salt and alcohol and using hydrating eyelid serum.
