What can be done so that I regain smell and function 9 months after primary rhinoplasty?

I had rhinoplasty in July 2023 and my smell has only come back 10pc, i have told the dr and his reply was smell has nothing to do with the surgery only breathing does?? I can only breathe properly through right nostril not left, the left if narrower than the right. There is a weird smell from my nose. My Nose has been made smaller and is over projected and i have been told by dr i need a revision however i dont trust him what are my options?

Your surgeon is certainly correct in noting that the olfactory bulb and nerves involved should not be affected by rhinoplasty surgery. That being said, if the nasal airflow does not allow for proper turbulent flow to the olfactory bulb, then scent molecules may not be able to reach those smell receptors.

Having an open discussion with your primary surgeon regarding your concerns is always the best first option, and if this seems unproductive, then an in-person consultation with well-regarded revision rhinoplasty surgeons to offer their input would be a reasonable second option.

If you close your eyes with your nose above coffee grounds, if you can smell them, you do not have anosmia. If things do not smell as robust as they used to, it could be due to decreased air flow through your nose.
