1 year post-op & not happy with the areola reduction results, what should I do next? (Photos)

In some cases, a revision procedure may be necessary to achieve the desired size, shape, or symmetry. This could involve removing more tissue, reshaping the areola, or repositioning it.
Since it’s been a year, it’s a good time to reevaluate the results and discuss your options with your surgeon. If you're still unhappy after giving it time, a revision procedure might be appropriate to correct the size, shape, or scarring issues. However, ensure you're fully informed and comfortable with your options, and don’t hesitate to seek a second opinion if needed.

This is a great question. Performing an areolar reduction alone in men is less common, as the primary issue is often excess breast and fatty tissue under the areola. Removing this tissue through gynecomastia surgery can often reduce the size of the areola as well, addressing both concerns in one procedure.

It’s generally best to avoid a lollipop scar, as the vertical line can be more challenging to conceal. For a successful areola reduction, a soft permanent suture, like Gortex, is often left in place to help maintain the shape. Dr. B.

Areola reduction Surgery is known to be problematic with the same problems you’ve had.
These are well known outcomes that can happen.
Chest lift is the procedure not all plastic surgeons perform may be an option depending on how much surgery you’re willing to undergo.
Skin redundancy due to successful weight loss can lead to difficult situations to correct.
I’m usually reluctant to do areola reduction with a circular incision only. I have not die a lollipop incision on a male patient. It is generally a better procedure than the circular approach only.Best,
