I had my Breast Augmentation six weeks ago ! I developed a hematoma on my right implant and had to get my right implant taken out and have the hematoma drained out then a new implant placed. I’m really concern my right implant is still sitting really high and the bottom looks empty. While my left side is perfectly settled I’m really sad and not happy. Do I need a revision surgery?

Answer: Implant dropping Dear Kind4503, dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. Answer: Breast implant descent Hello,This is a great question. Although it is difficult to know with absolute certainty, it’s very likely the implant will continue to descend into position over time. 6 weeks is a prudent amount of time to wait, however, you may need to wait longer and assist the process by massaging the implant downwards. Considering you had the hematoma and were re-operated on the breast, it’s not surprising that it’s taking longer. As for your question about revision, I think your best option is to wait for now. 6 weeks is still very early to consider any revision, and this issue may resolve on its own. I’d recommend you visit with your surgeon and ask her/him again about your concerns, considering she/he knows the details of your procedure. All the best!
