How can I sleep better after my septoplasty/rhinoplasty?

Post op 4 days from this surgery. My question is I cannot sleep since I have been home on the surgery. Everytime I fall asleep whether in a chair, elevated on a pillow etc, after 3-5 min, I hear like a pop in my mouth breathing and wake up. The pop is loud. It almost seems like I am gasping for air for a quick second. This happens continuously every few min and I cannot sleep. Called surgeon and he suggested Nyquil. Tried that but it was worse.

Do you have splints in your nose with breathing holes? If so, keeping your nasal cavities moist with nasal saline sprays will prevent blood and mucous from drying and obstructing your nasal airway. Sometimes if patients have clogged nasal splits I'll have them come in to suction their nasal cavities of dried mucous and blood to improve air flow.
